WDYOT-Q: BRAINY RESPONSES TO TAGID 210101.

The courageous smarties agree to get their witty responses published.

THE THOUGHT PROMPT.

When you were a kid, the Christmas/New Year seasons were pretty exciting periods. How would you compare then with the recent Christmas season? If it felt less exciting, what can you point to as the reason for that?

Realizing Santa Claus isn’t just going to drop gifts under the Christmas tree and you are not going to move from house to house receiving candies and some cash is enough to make it less exciting.

Rather, on Christmas, you’re reminded of how responsible you ought to be as guests will be coming around. Christmas for me has become a stressful day as I shuffle between cooking, cleaning, washing and serving guests not forgetting to murmur “merry Christmas” nonchalantly under my breath. Christmas has indeed lost its Salt for me.

–Me

I think why it felt less exciting to me is because the people around me didn’t see any necessity to celebrate it, probably because we are all grownups. But to be sincere if I find any opportunity to celebrate Christmas, I will.
